During 1970 a group of eleven handpicked men started their training close to Oudtshoorn, under the command of Commandant Jan Breytenbach.
They were called the DIRTY DOZEN and later became the SOUTH AFRICAN SPECIAL FORCES (RECCES).
During 2016 a group of six men got together and instituted a Fort of SASFA, the South African Special Forces Association, which is the veteran
structure of the SA Special Forces. This Fort was named FORT OUTENIQUA and represents the Southern and Eastern Cape regions of the SASFA.
A special Recce Story Evening will be held where two members of FORT OUTENIQUA will share their experiences as part of the DIRTY DOZEN and soon after their part of the forming of 1 Reconnaissance Regiment in Durban.
Join us to listen to these men at the first ever event of this kind in George, where we will also entertain you with a festive meal based on the guidelines from recipes contained in the new book, Specialized Cooking, The Recce Way.
The book, written by retired SA Special forces operators Justin Vermaak en Douw Steyn, will be on sale at the event.
